I got sick of clicking through 8 contacts a turn to see if they had workers for sale, so I wrote a utility to check for me, and alert me when workers became available. Its a bit buggy at the moment, and I want to tody up the UI.

But before I do this, I figured I'd see if anyone else has any suggestions of features they want to see added.

Current features:

  1. Runs in background, and automatically loads latest autosave / latest file in autosave directory.
  2. Provides comparisons to show what new techs etc the AI has from turn to turn.
  3. Configurable alerts when certain itms are available.
  4. Shows AI gold.
  5. Shows AI workers available.
  6. Checks for required techs for map trading & contact trading. If you / AI have them, then shows communications & maps.

Other thoughts I had (but haven't included yet) are:
  1. Calculate cost / value of techs for sale.
  2. Calculate how much map you are buying / selling (comparison of what you can see v what AI can see).

If you have any suggestions / improvements etc, then let me know. I'll try and get a beta out in a few days... :mischief:

Yep - looks cool ainwood!

Suggestions will come with the first beta I am sure. ;)

Sounds intrestingly useful! I would enjoy this myself. No more checking to see if they have a tech or worker I could want! :)

I agree with all your ideas. Also, it should show the AI resources. You said new techs, how about all tech it can trade you. Maybe it should also say what you can trade?

Agree with both possible ideas #1, and #2. This sounds great.

The 'new techs' was for the alert bit - if they aquire a new tech (that you don't have), then you get an alert about it (or more accurately, you can configure an alert about it) :).

I was going to ahve a what you can trade option, and I think I will expand on the idea to add the UI in two separate bits: What you can trade with the AI, and what the AI can trade with you. I will look at the Resource trading options too. :)

Really looking forward to see this. I, too, am very sick of checking F4 screen each turn. This is especialy true when I like playing with max civ. You already got my list I guess. I am going to subscribe to this thread just to make sure I do not miss it when you have it up and running.

Hello,
Wow! this is the best "mod" for civ3 I've seen!
That sounds really great. The program will show a list of the available trade items for all AI civs?
I can now play on a map with more than 8 civs. When playing 16 civs in the current game it takes like 8 million mouse clicks every turn to do diplomacy.
I hadn't thought about comparing auto-save game files before. The only suggestion I would have is if it could alert you the turn before a city goes into civil disorder (if you have the AI govenor manage your cities it will automatically make an entertainer before going into unrest, but if you manage citizens yourself you have to check every city every turn). Don't worry if that is too much trouble, if you made your utility do just one of things you listed that would be so awsome.:goodjob:  :thanx:

Sounds great! Can you configure it so that it only works if you have embassies/spies within the countries in question? This would make sense, as you would get the information if you have A Man in Havana.
