Am I the only one who thinks this game is nearly perfect?!?

Like everyone I read the previews and rushed out to my local retailer on Tuesday to get the earliest possible dose of Civ3. I have to say that I am not in the least bit disappointed. This is one of the few times that I feel a game actually lives up to its hype.

I've played maybe 30-40 of the last two year's releases and I think this is absolutely the best. I also (like all of you) spent many hundreds of hours one-more-turning my way through countless Civ2 campaigns and I feel that Civ3 is practically the dead on logical continuation.

The game looks beautiful and I don't mind the sacrifices of movies for game-wide highres graphics. Also they didn't ship version 1.0.0 and as far as I can tell, (on my 733 Hp Pavillion) the game is almost bug free. This is all commendable.

What I don't get is why so many people spend so much energy complaining about the game. Maybe you don't agree with the design decisions... Get a Job in the Gaming Industry Then! This game was obviously very well thought out and I think its design deserves more than 72 hours of play to pass judgement on the whole thing, or shelve it as someone was threatening. Half of the complaints I've read seem like they're form people who want to be playing a whole different game!

I guess my question-after-the-rant is, Is anyone else but me completely satisfied with this game!?

Im absolutely 100% astronomically satisfied, and not one bit dissapointed, it was more than i could ever hope for...My absolutely favorite new thing, is the excellent detail and wonderfully beautiful graphics of the units riflemen and Infantry...they are so gosh darn awesome!!!!!!

When I say Im satisfied, that means if I knew there werent any more updates, or anything else coming to improve the game, I'd still be satisfied with what I have now...

I guess I'll find out for sure tomorrow ;) I won't be satasfied with it until the editors are complete, but from what I've heard, the gameplay itself is simply excellent.

I forget, is it better to give people the illusion of happiness, or is it better to set them straight?

...

I'm just askin' is all..

The Game Rules ,,,, its great,,,, Japan kicks arce

"illusion of happiness" is impossible... Happiness is a state of mind, so you can't think that think something, without actually thinking it, can you ?
(this made sense when I start writing it, but something happened along the way) :crazyeyes

You can concider youselves lucky.
I have waited a long time for this game and I don´t get it until next friday.
Arghh..
There are so many new tanks!! *dreaming*

Im gonna rule the world!

I think the game sucks. Due to it, I can't sleep more than three hours a night, and I don't get anything done at work. My dogs never get walked, and I forgot the names of my kids. I really hope they get this game patched quickly and fix these problems. :D

What do you mean, "when the editors are complete"? Aren't they fully done yet?? Anyways, I think the game looks great from what little I've seen already. Are there a lot of bugs in the game? Will they be fixed in the UK version? Is it warth me waiting for a later version that has no bugs? Please answer my questions!

As far as I can tell (through about 40 hours of gameplay so far) the game is nearly bug free. There are a couple minor bugs that were identified in another thread, but nothing that diminishes game enjoyment.

I say buy it now! That's what I've done and I have no regrets.. Except for the above-mentioned inabi;ity to sleep or function at work.:o

Thanks for the info, from what I'd heard, the game was riddled with bugs and always crashed etc. However it seems that was not true! Phew, I definitely would buy it now, were it not for the crappy UK release date. Ah well, absence makes the heart grow fonder!

Even without the MP (multiplayer) support for which I was ranting about earlier the game is great! Long live the Japanese!

I must say I think this is *the* strategygame for a long time... I don't like RTS as it takes the strategy out of the game (well, that is my opinion) I just don't like (re)actiongames called strategy. This game (civ3) is really gaming is about and I say it is a game worth buying >:)
But for critics, hey some critic is good... but some fools just gotta open their mouth to badmouth good things as well. The isn't perfect but hey, if you don't like then go design your own 100 % perfect game, an hey, good luck!!!
