Hi everyone,

I have finally decided to post an update on my scenario A World At War.

I have done a lot of changes. Most notably the scenario should be more balanced in the areas of unit strengths, production costs, movement and placement.
Besides of that I have updated much of the graphics, most notably unit graphics, terrain graphics and completely altered the space ship race so it now more properly looks like a nuclear facility race. The leader portraits have also been altered.

Some old units have been removed and some new are added. Especially I want to mention that Engineers are now included, so it is possible to build up the infrastructure.

Last but not the least the scenarios name has been modified to A World At War 1939-1945 to specify the time period.

So here are the files. Most of them have been modified since the first version, so I suggest that all are downloaded.

Best regards

BKA

Downloaded all the files. Played a bit. Liked what I saw. Nice use of multi-units (this coming from someone who desn't like multi-units).

I notice you're using the Torpedo concept. I've always liked that concept but I prefer not to use it and give all ships the 'sub' flag instead so that the AI can't make suicide attacks on heavily-defended land units.

I'm always on the lookout for realistic-looking units that are on a similar angle to that of the map square (i.e. parallel to the sides of the square in the unit slot in units.gif) --yes, I'm an odd sort of perfectionist ;). I found a few in your scenario:

1. Mitsubishi A6M "Zero"
2. Type 97 "Chi-Ha" (That's a Japanese assault gun right?)
3. Panzer III
4. Il-2 "Sturmovik"
5. Early Bomber
6. P-38
7. Lancaster
8. Matilda

Can I use any of these?

BTW, I'm looking for some good sources/links on WW2 statistics such as production outputs, force locations, etc. Can you help me out? (Will also use WAW as a source. :D )

Feel free to use anything you want to fullfill your perfectionist goals.

Try and look at the bottom of the readme.txt. There should be some links that I have used a lot.

Good luck, looking forward to see the fruit of your efforts.

Best Regards

BKA, I played your scenario and I must say you deserve alot of credit for a job well done. It deserves to be classified with some of the best ever made. You have earned your props and I just wanted to congradulate you on a job well done.

"A World at War" is a title that could stand for any global conflict so you could make a whole series of scenarios based on that title. In the past few weeks I have tried to delv into scenario making and it is harder that it looks. So once again let me say your work is one of the best I have played and I have played alot.

Well Done,

Alsbron QB

Thank you for your very kind words Alsbron QB. It is always great to recieve positive response from gamers.

I still want to make some final touches in a final version, but I am also pleased with the result.

I hope that you will continue to experiment with Civ2 scenario making. A lot can and will be learned along the way! :king:

Just a little update on my scenario:

Ever wondered why you as Germany couldn't build the FW190A even though you had researched the tech? Well, it was because it was placed in the fanatic slot, which meant that it was only the Soviet Union (fanatism) that could build it. This should now have been fixed by switching it's slot position in the rules.txt and units.gif with the Soviet La-5 fighter.

Here are the files. Happy gaming.

Special thx. goes to Nicholas Buenk for pointing this bug out to me. :king:

Yet another little update - this time concerning the Engineers. Gary J. Durham pointed out to me that they couldn't bridge rivers, and this should now have been fixed.

Hopefully within the next month or two I will be able to upload the third and final version of the game. I have a lot of improvement ideas, which I hope can fit into the scen.
