After Reading the Ring City Placement Article by DaviddesJ, I thought It might be helpful for me to have a chart to visually see the way the rings work.

I'm basing it off of His Chart, below.

Code:
Distance Sites Cities
2.0 4 4
2.5 8 4
3.0 8 8
3.5 8 8
4.0 12 8
4.5 12 12
5.0 12 12
5.5 16 12
6.0 16 16
6.5 16 16
7.0 20 16
7.5 20 20
8.0 20 20
8.5 24 20
9.0 24 24
9.5 24 24
10.0 28 24
etc.

The Rings highlighted are the first ones that allow you to place a City in each of the possible sites. (3, 4.6, 6, 7.5 and 9)

I created it in Excel, and will attach the base excel file (zipped) to a followup message, so you can mess with it, change colors, fix any typos I may have made...

Hope this is helpful to some of you.

Hi Meddik!

I always believed RCP to be AWFUL because it is so artifical.

But... did not Conquests make RCP obsolete? I think it does not work anymore at all.

Or does it still work in Conquests 1.15b?

Nice chart :goodjob:

There's also the CRPrings utility by Dianthus that allows you to overlay the RCP rings on the map you're playing

AVAILABLE HERE

Two comments:
  1. it doesn't work in c3c any longer
  2. the numbers are truncated: x.5 == x
    [/list=1]

I'm one of the poor souls still playing vanilla CivIII.

I've never really tried the RCP strategy myself anyway, I just made this so that in my next game I can try it out and see how well it works for me.
