After many grueling hours of play I have finally achieved my first victory at Deity level. I probably won't play this level again, I like the computer players a little more on a level playing field.

I've upload the very first turn of the game if anyone else wants to play it. And I'll upload the last turn of my game in the next post.

The only way this victory was possible was the extenive use of my civs special unit, the mounted warrior. Hurry production of armies by sacrificing population, and extensive use of diplomacy to turn the AI's against each other as well as obtaining all of my technology advances (except 2 that I researched myself).

Overall it was a ton of fun, but man those later turns started taking upwards of 5-10 minutes a piece.

Here is the last turn of the game. Just hit shift-enter and in 1030AD you will win a domination victory. This was kinda strange, because I was just getting ready to take out my loyal allies the Aztecs when the game informed me that I already won...?

With a score of nearly 8500 points.

Congratulations. :goodjob: I've heard deity is hard/impossible.

Maybe I'll try to top you fete;) when I get my game...this Tuesday. Amazon.com sucks:mad:

No slight to the effort, but this victory was helped a lot by the AI exploit you mentioned in that other thread.

Seems like an easy one to fix, if you sue for peace with an enemy and ask for a city, that should work, but if you you break the treaty a few turns later and then try for peace again, they should remember that you crossed them last time and not accept any deal but plain peace treaty.

I agree totally. It was still quite a challenge, but without that loophole I wouldn't have stood a chance. Mounted warriors just aren't that effective vs Infrantry defenders.

The AI should really have learned from WWII, appeasement does not work!

Ive mentioned this in another thread, so, u beat diety? well done, but u must feel a tiny weeny but...cheated, u've destroyed the greastest challenge in the game in, ohhh, a week?
There are other civs, and other victories though, but there must a small amount of annoyence of not having to put yr teeth into sumthin trying to crack it, thats the coolest thing surely? Really working at summin for weeks an months. I had a shogun campaign that raged back and forth over Japan for ages...until I lost, but it felt so cool, immersing yrself in the game and comeing out, winning or losing, refreshed.

Well done, but I think u may have sacrificed some joy in the race to be the best.

Good Job. I guess the UU are one of the great improvements of the Civ III . Do you think you could have had the same outcome if you had another civilization?

Probably. I would have picked another civilation with an early special unit. I like the Persians a lot. The mounted warriors were great because they would usually retreat before they would get destroyed. So if I had ten attacking a city to get rid of two musketmen, I would often have 8-9 left after the battle. If I was going to do the same thing with immortal I might only have 5 or 6 left over.

Of course in the middle of my first war I got the technology to advance to knights... and then later to calvary so the UU only helped real early on, but it helped a lot early on.

Is that 8500 points out of a 1000 (%750)? 10,000 (85%)? Did you catch that? Just curious.:egypt:

I don't remember seeing any percentages. I'm not sure if it is the same as the previous civs.

WHAT A FREAK!!!! (EDITED)

Yes, I agree. You ARE a freak, and apparently you don't learn too quickly either. You were banned once, and I'd expect a second one is on the way. Personal attacks are not welcome on the forums.

Ya, if that was true. Then it would bother me.

Hmmmm... I wonder if that is just meaningless then. I've seen a score in my game that I assumed was culture score. Maybe it's just a total points thing. Or maybe it's relative to all of the points scored by all of the civs. Wish I knew.

I'm thinking they are going to arrange for a good manual to this game to come out for a pretty penny. Think I'll just hang around this website and see what I can gleen for the CivIII info page.

The score seems to be just points. I don't recall seeing a percentage anywhere. You get points for happy citizens, content/specialist citizens, land area, future tech and possibly a bonus for winning. The bonus depends on type of victory, difficulty level, and probably number of turns. I won a cultural victory on Chieftan and received no bonus but ~12,500 bous for a domination victory at deity level on a tiny map ~110 AD.

The world was small. Barbarians were set to restless. Civs were maxed for a small world I think there were six or seven. I believe the age, water, and heat settings, were set to the middle setting. The land was Archipeligo (or whatever... that one is) with the maximum land mass.

Hey screwball sidebodie, this is gonna get me banned but do I care, no, I bloody well dont.
First, I did not make a personal attack, I just quoted sumthing I believe in, thats the poit aint it.
Secondly, u immature(I think)8 year old, what the hells yr problem, u dont go round forums insultin people!(This is only a reply)
Yr the freak, I havent got Civ, but I quote on what I can and this is summin I believe I can.
