T&T Department - Construction trade possibilities.

There are 3 civs with Construction. India, Germany and Russia. We could of course research it, but we can also trade for it.

India wants for it:
Polytheism + Contact with Greece. (They'll throw in some gold as well)
Polytheism + Contact with Egypt. (They'll throw in some gold as well)
Polytheism + 66 gold.
Polytheism + 4gpt.
Polytheism + WM. (They'll throw in some gold as well)

Germany wants for it:

To specify further. We can sell Germany Polytheism for:
Construction + 68 gold.

Yes - the Germany trade giving Polytheism. Not sure if it's worth getting the map as well or just the extra gold.

When we do this trade, both Germany and ourselves will enter the next age. Germany is Scientific and will get a free tech. Do we want to do this trade before the next session to see what tech they get so that we don't end up researching it ourselves? Or do they not get the tech until their turn, in which case we won't know until we start playing and there's no need to do it earlier.

Russia is also scientific and has lots of gold - do we also want to trade them polytheism, so they also enter the next age and get their free tech? They may get the same one as Germany allowing us to trade for it cheaper, or they may get a different one. Either way it could well affect what we research next.

Russia pays for Poly:
WM + 126 gold.
132 gold.

The Russian offer for polytheism is also the lowest. I conclude that they will discover it in about 3-4 turns, i.e. BEFORE we learn republic.

Thus we should monitor Russia's research of polytheism: by how much drops the price they are willing to pay from turn to turn?

The turn before they learn it, trade polytheism for construction making the best deals possible at that time.

I say we trade techs ASAP, as a matter of fact: in the preturn. Republic is 6 turns away, and then another few turns to revolt. Russia or Germany require only Poltheism to catapult them (scientific trait) into the Middle Ages. If that happens we won't be able to get construction cheap (can't trade Polytheism anymore) and we'll be thrown back quiet a bit.

If we do trade now, we do get a nice price for it. It will throw Russia and Germany in the Middle Ages as well, but at least we'll be there as well. And we can soon trade Republic for their Free tech(s).

If you follow my arguments in this thread on research and factor in this thread about wonder building you might agree that we should make every effort to get the Middle Age techs from the AIs by trading them the contacts, but not republic.

also to think about: do we want to trade with the other nations after we trade with germany so they can't trade it around?

also, how much do we have in our treaury?
