I've gotten some time cleared for SGs again ^_^ Specifically, on tuesdays thursdays and weekends.

Version: Conquests 1.15b
Difficulty: Emperor
Civilization: Japan
Aggression: Normal
World Size: Standard
Landmass: Pangea 60% Water
Terrain: Wet, Warm, 4 billion years
Map Seed : Who knows?
Barbarians: Raging
Victory Conditions: Conquest and Domination are really the only ones possible but all are on (except wonder)
Opponents: All Random
Other: Preserve Random Seed, Culture Flips Enabled
Turnover: 20 turns per session, 24 hours to "Got It", then 48 hours to play.

Roster:
Gozpel
DisruptiveIdiot
Microbe
Barbslinger
Yom

FULL

Concept: No wonders, none, wonders are banned no buts about it. If we capture a city with a wonder we must raze the city. Wonders are EVIL! We will smash wonders! ROAR! Exception is... no exceptions :P

Rules :
No exploits. X_x these include rop rape, using scouts as resource denial, etc. We may be barbaric but we're honorable barbarians!

No wonders at all, not even small puny wonders.

We must win!

Sounds interesting and fun, I'd join, but I don'¨t have 1.15b...:undecide:

No FP? A nice challenge for you...

Does that include Small Wonders- Military Academy, Pentagon, Apollo Program, Heroic Epic, Forbidden Palace, etc.?

I'm in if you let me start. I'm a sucker for the first turns :)
(20 turns for the first round for all players, then 10)

Emperor please.

You get the first spot gozpel, now if 2 other people would like to join I'll post the starting position.

Edit : Third spot goes to microbe and No we dont get the FP :P We smash wonders not build them! ROAR

Militaristic trait as per your preference towards conquest/domination might be good. Thinking Japan to have horses from the start.

I'd like to try emporer. I think it should still be a walk if we get a good start we can get domination by 1000AD, just like SirPleb.
Any civ is fine with me. I have yet to play the romans or vikings in my civ career but another I have yet to play that may work out nice is the Ottomans for the Siphi's. We may want to look at agricultural though.

Ok so our strategy will be early domination? Sounds great; let me just get a starting position and we can start. This'll be pretty interesting with the lack of wonders; no prebuilding, no rushing for techs solely for wonders; etc. I suggest going for philosophy early on so we can grab a free tech. Also it would still be beneficial to research un-recquired techs because they will still trade well with comps.

Ottomans are way too easy.

Agricultural? What civs have Agri and Mil as traits, that would be the way to go?

They really should change Chinese to this..and riders would be ideal for this game. :D

I'll join. So we're Byzantines on emperor?

I know the coast is usually the way to go but with no FP we should maximize our core by moving inland on the river. Then we can put our S and N cities on the coast for better spacing. I like 1 S with the worker mining 1 SE.

Ok, Nippon rules and we will raze those wonders stone by stone. Legends says almighty warriors called Samurais will take deep offense towards cultures who dares to build Wonders and will punish them accordingly.

I got it and will report back soon.

I agree and will do as you suggest. Now stop interupting me and let me play :)

First the Save

Change prefs to my liking.

4000 bc - Move worker SE to check out surrounding and follow Barbslinger-san's advice and move settler S to get an inland position. We have a few BG's but no food recourses visible.

3950 bc - Kyoto is founded -> warrior. Worker start roading the BG-tile. Research is set to Pottery at max - 15 turns.

3900 bc - ---

3850 bc - ---

3800 bc - ---

3700 bc - Kyoto warrior -> warrior. Warrior named Bubba moves south to scout.

3650 bc - Bubba S and find a cow and heaps of jungle. At least we know where the second city will be placed, there's river there too.

3600 bc - Bubba SE towards mountain.

3550 bc - Bubba climbs mountain and find spices and game, another future city spot.

3500 bc - Worker finished mine, continue to next BG.

3450 bc - Kyoto's borders expands and reveals a goodyhut. Kyoto warrior -> warrior. The new warrior Spud is sent N. I won't risk tripping a GH without defense. Bubba climbs another mountain and finds gems! 2 luxes very close, we are lucky indeed.
Luxtax to 10%.

3400 bc - ---

3350 bc - Damn, Bubba climbs gem-mountain and see pink borders way to close. We need to protect the gem area until we get our first settler out.

3300 bc - We learn Pottery -> Alphabet at 90% / 30 turns.

Kyoto warrior -> settler. We need that cow and the gems. Move the new warrior Egg S towards pink borders to block any settlers. Bubba will move in to say hello.

3250 bc - We meet France, I give Joan the Wheel, Pottery, CB and 1gpt + 3g for Alphabet and BW. I set research to 10% on Writing / 50 turns. 90% is only 48t and I prefer to accumulate some gold for a while. The gpt deal would also put us in deficit per turns, we can always change the research pace when we have a second city.
France is up Masonry and WC on us, I chosed BW to get closer to Iron working and Alphabet was natural.

3200 bc - France also have a horse in their territory, Now I almost wish I'd picked WC instead to do an early archer rush, but ah well...too late now. Joan politely asks us to leave their territory and move a worker next to Bubba. I feel an urge to steal that worker, but think I better play nice for now :)

3150 bc - Spud is scouting N and finds Ivory! Too bad we can't build wonders :) Worker finished second mine, road.

3100 bc - ---

3050 bc - ---

3000 bc - Bubba the mountaineer spots silks just outside France's borders.

Settler is due in one turn. Send him to assigned spot and irrigate that cow, we can actually get some settlers out of that city.
We can probably research faster with a second city or just maintain the 10% rate to gather some gold. Next player make those decisions. A couple of warriors would be good to trip that GH.

Edit - Did I forget to rename the N warrior? I called him Spud, but the wife demanded something and I caved, this is Emperor level after all :)
