The original art is the art of the first image, when I rote this map 45 degree, some parts appear be wrong, because it use a different perspective that we use in our day by day (American continent in vertical).
I rote this 45 degree, because if I had to use America in vertical I could not make a big map: I draw using "Corel Draw" and export it to "EDIT Civilization" using "BMPtoBIC software", when I export it the map is stretched in horizontal way, as you see in below image. To use the map in 45 degree was the best option I found.

Machine did it for me, I selected "redistribute starting location" and did some changes. In northeast from N. America has two close starting locations, I have to change it.

Look inside the "Completed Modpacks" sub-forum, the Native American mod guys could use this.
Your map seems very nice, but Michigan seems far too skinny, although perhaps that's just the angle. Still I'd suggest maybe adding a square to it somewhere.

This map will be used in some future mods scenarios made by myself, I have some ideas to use it. If someone has one, please, post, or if someone wanna use this map (or any else make by myself, all them present in Civ Fanatics) in a own mod, fell free.
I agree if you about the size of Michigan, I gonna fix it, Hudson bay is too close to the last Great Lake.
I know Natvie American Mod, they use a Civiliation done by myself (The Tupis from present Brazil), if they wanna use this map, I'll be glad.

Good map, there some problems like any map (personaly, being from Indiana I would say put more wheat in the midwest), but the Texas area just really bugging me, I'm guessing you went off of a few different maps and with the way you angled it (which was done well) just was something you overlooked.
Personally I give it 4 stars out of five (I'm just really picky when it comes to maps)
