The 999 "Trick"

This is a little trick to see how much the AI is making gold per turn...

I think this is very useful...Some people may have found this out but I want other people to know...I use mainly for trying to get good deals and everything...It sometimes work, sometimes doesn't...But here it is anyway...

1. Click the "GOLD" Menu. Then select the "PER TURN" Sub Menu.

2. A box should pop up and say "Enter Amout.." Type in there "999."

Volia! It shows how much the AI is getting for GPT...

I hope this helps some people for good deals..

Thanks!!

Thanks truckingpete! This will shorten my negotiating time alot :)

Question: Is this how much they are making in total? Or is it how much they can afford to pay you?

Thanks in advance :)

HMMM. Never even heard this referred to, certainly a helpful little trick. It would seem that it would be the excess per turn that they make. you said sometimes it doesn't -- under what circumstances have you found it to work or not work? Is there a correlation or does it just randomly work for you? Also, if you were to suggest 59 gpt in the screens above, would they say they were insulted or that they would never accept?

It is definately how much they can afford to pay you. So, if you wanted one more GPT (59, according to the example above), the AI would not except it.

Well it's how much they are making in one turn...It has to be...they are making a lot then...

@SesnOfWthr...Let me get back to you...very busy now..but I will get back to you....

I think it's the amount of gpt they would give you if they disbanded all units and sold all improvements.

What I ment it didn't work someyimes is that you don't get a good deal...But in my game 80% of the time it worlks for me..Once you get a tech that the AI doesn't you can get a good GPT deal with it...

Let's use my example...He is geting 58 GPT...If I type 59 for GPT it would go to the amout it is making..In this cas 58 GPT...Plus they would never except AND get insulted too..sometimes they will acept IF a good deal...

Hope that answers you questions....

Thx, got to use that.

Actually, you can do this on your own side too.

The "rule" should be the same, so it's how much you can afford for 20 turns based on income AND treasury, subtracting for any lump sum gold you have already put on the table.

Test it out on your own side so you can see the "real" numbers without having to run a debugmode game.

Truly golden information.
Has anyone checked this out my doing actual investigation of an AI's cities.
Regardless, it's worth the effort in order to get better trade acceptance.

I did a little investigation into this.
The figure given is only for Total Income.
This does not take into account the Civs expenses, maintenance, or Corruption loss.
You can perform this test on your own Civ and then compare it with the Domestic Advisor.
Has anyone found a way to see the Science spending of othe Civs?

When you investigate their citie(s) just look in the Science output part of the screen (in the middle under the Shields thingie)
It should give a figure like 80% or whatever - this being their spending.

BTW, this feature is a side-effect of a fix for a certain, probably little known (but game breaking), exploit. I'm debating if I should 'announce' the exploit (mostly because people are still playing MP with PTW).

Brilliant, truckingpete. Many thanx.
