Yes, as I was saying I've been working to include more religion in my personal mod. It should not be that difficult when we can use flavors. I've also incuded some religious resources such as Kaaba (black sstone in Mecca) for Moslems, Buddha or Dalai Lama for Buddhists, Pope for Christians and Totem for closer-to-earth religions. With a proper resources you can of course build religious wonders etc. such as Kaaba of Mekka, Vatican, that Tibetan palace-monastery...(I have even been planning to make a Jesus Christ resource  )

Of course there would be only one of each resources on a map.

One minor problem is the fact that if you are buddhist and Buddha is on other side of the globe and also when you are your neighbors aren't moslems but kaaba lies next to your capital... doesn't make much sense. Perhaps it's time for holy war to see who's civilization is closest to gods heart...

I dunno, need more ideas... open your heart...

anychance for some polyhtiestic resources as well?

There is a chance, you mean like greek or egyptian or natives etc.? You have any ideas?

Oh yes, I'm making Chichen Itza wonder for totem at the moment. Or is there one already?

Easy enough to implement these on a pre-made map. On a random map however, you're right. There will be problems.

If you and our neighbors aren't Moslem Kaaba won't be visible to you at all even if it's right beside you. But you wonder why the Arabs and Ottomans keep sending hordes of troops after your useless and unproductive desert city... :D

well, a greek temple should be good for the Greek and ROman religons (bleive it or not,t he two are very differtn once you get past the superficial sililarities), and a sphinx should be good for egypt, and a Ziggurat for MEspotamian/Carthaginian religons

Why do I get the feeling these have all been done? The Ziggurat has been done by Arne, among others... The search feature is enabled again. :scan:

Ukas, I like them except the Pope, which looks like an egg with feet. ;)

they are done as icon for use as resource graphics?

Ah, now I get you...
Not as far as I know, they are done as buildings, but they should be easy to convert.

@mrtn: I know. My first idea was to use only symbols as graphics, not persons. But Dalai Lama seems to fit ok, so why not make a new pope figure.

@Ekmek: I'll try and then post them here if they are any good.

@Ankka:There are so many ways to present leaders in civ3. And isn't Jesus the most important resource for Christianity? ;)

Well, my point really was the point that you made them as resources, not who or what, but that people are resources...:p

Great job so far - keep it up! TETurkhan did some work in this direction in his mod, too - I think it is a great idea that opens up all sorts of Holy War type of mods and scenarios.

Can't wait to see what develops out of this!

Well, since there's religious conversation going on here I bumped this thread if someone has new ideas how to implement religions in civ3 plus I will tell my own point of view to religion.

I think all religions were and are only a way for the leading class to control masses and their abstract thinking by mythology. The communists were exactly right on that, only too bad they made similar icons of their leaders and ideology. Though religions are very romantic thus entertaining there still is no scientific evidence, or concrete evidence, which will prove me some kind of higher being exists, at least in the way believers will tell us. And I don't want to hear happy-doo-dee-daa explanations about "how the life itself is a god-made miracle" etc.
With all the education and learning more and more people are losing their religion, as unlike in history they now have this opportunity. The leading class is now content with this, since they know education of the masses will bring them even more money while the masses continue to be content as long the leading class will provide something else to keep them content - such as patriotism, entertainment, work, more education... whatever fills the gap and keeps the masses happy.

Religion developes with the mankind since religion is invented by the mankind. The humans lead religions, not gods - that's why religions will make same errors as the governements do - there's not much difference.

So by now it is pretty safe to say 'Ukas is an atheist'.

But I try to keep an open mind, though not in a way I would someday be religious. More like I don't judge people by their beliefs or what they believe - I like to learn new stuff about different cultures. So that's about it.

Wouldn't such a discussion be better off in the Off-Topic forum, seeing how one's philosophy of religion has little bearing on Graphic Modpacks, let alone Creation & Customization?

can I get some Greco-Roman temples yet? ;)

also, some sun symbols for Mithraism would be awesoem as well- the medieval kind of sun symbols, with the face and what not would be very cool

@Mithadan: I don't like off-topic, besides I just wanted to bump the thread and "target group" sees it here anyways ;)

@Xen: Sure, but later in the week, rl keeps me occupied at the moment.
