A Conquest remade wonder. Bartholomeu Diaz was the first that had round the Good hope cape (before it was called Storms' cape): his voyage open the east trade with India, with the complete cirmunavigation of Africa.

Isnt there some kind of monument (like a medieval tower or something) in Portugal to conmemorate this?? (I think I saw it a couple of days ago at Discovery Channel)

Anyway... this one looks great, and is at least going to replace the one at Age of Discovery Conquest:goodjob:

Another great nautical wonder! :goodjob:

But with so many of them available now, and each giving +1 to ship move, galleons would be zipping by at 10 moves / turn.

Give some trade benefits instead :) -and/or make some wonders available with certain resources (i.e. Oak wood needed for more durable vessels, Apples to defy illnesses on extremely long voyages)

I'm thinking of being much more perverse -- (1) putting a unique resource for this at the Cape (2) using Flavors to divide the Civs into Maritime and Continental and (3) making it possible only for a Maritime Civ to build this and other such Wonders. This approach also justifies IMHO using them for trade benefit Wonders.

-- Yet another beauty, RTF!

Ah- but his only works with pre-made maps :) sounds good; if you take your perverseness into this direction I suggest to make unique resources by nationality- i.e. Spanish Resource- and place three or four around every civ's capital. This way the Civ may even trade its resource "in license"- i.e. Leopard Tank requires German Resource- Germany trades its Resource with Spain, during which time Spain is able to build Leopard Tanks as long as the trade keeps up.

The beauty of this is that every civ would have a monopoly over this resource and always find trade partners for it :) (weapons exports á la Civ)

Now that is a seriously fine idea!

Yes. Good idea. And I'll also make some resources dependent on era-none techs as well, making them usable ONLY for particular civs. This will go a long way towards making every civ a unique playing experience.

Seeing how we share the same last name, but not wanting to engage in a "historical flame war".....

I thought his last naem was Dias, the Portuguese version of Diaz... seing how Dias/Diaz was Portuguese.

anybody know? I guess both are historically accurate, at least according to an internet search.....

No flame war required -- "standardized" spelling is a fairly modern invention; IIRC it was Samuel Johnson who said that it was a "poor man who could only spell a word one way".

Best,
