This is not a drill! I repeat, This is not a drill! We have been attacked by the Russians! A recently upgraded Spear in Sanction (you owe me one, Tao. ;)) defended against an archer, was redlined, but won! (this is why I want barracks!)

This has effectively given us our Golden Age! There's now 2 turns until Military Tradition, and with ALL of our knights (we still need muskets!) by Russia, we're poised to upgrade, and CHARGE!!!!

I will get a small Milita force of Aquebusers, Crossbowmen, Bombards, and Culvern Cannons for the cause.

I made an assessment of the situation. We can own this continent by 1500 AD (at max). The Russians are toast, once we get our cavs and upgrade them. 2 or 3 turns after we have upgraded to cavs the cities of Tblisi, Minsk, Vladivostok and Yakutsk can be ours. 3 turns later we have Moscow, Odessa, Kiev and Sevastopol. Then some mopping up to get Sverdlovsk and St' Petersburg.

If the Babylonians or the Germans are stupid enough to get signed into an MA against us, the worse for them. We fortify the Mr R - Acheron area and our unstoppable cavs will mop up Babylon in about 5,6 or 7 turns. Germany a bit longer due to the mountain-range in their center.

We should tever not sign MA's, except for perhpas India. They can help us before they die.

We have the power !

Also, since we're in our Golden Age (and Russia is fairly weak), we can build a few more Musketeers to defend our cities, then build up on cavs to take out Babylon. We really need defenses, too.

Very little defenses. Cavalry rulez.

And despite the war effort, we should look beyond the immediate future and build library and university in Groton NOW.

And we need to build Smith's in Deux Riviere, and a palace pre-built for Newton's in Vandelay.

I knew the "Smith's Trade in DR" topic would come up! ;) BTW, the Collosus, Copernicus, Netwon's and SETI all have a cumulative effect when placed in the same city. However, with a civ our size, it doesn't matter if we build it or not.

IIRC there was recently a thread claiming otherwise w.r.t. science accumulation. It said the multiplication applies to the basic science only. And we want to deny it to the Persians. :)

It is cumulative. Look at Sulla's GOTM 12(?) (French) OCC game.

Can I join the Groton Knightly Order? :D

Someone tell me if I die :X

It depends on what you call "cumulative". I just looked at my GOTM 28 capital of Delhi:

basic science: 35
library (+50%=+18): 52
university (+50% of BASIC=+17): 70
Newton's (+100% of BASIC=+35: 105
Copernicus' (+100% of BASIC=+35): 140

city screen says: science: 140

q.e.d.

q.e.d.?

I think that we need to strike Russia in 2 turns' time, when we have cavs after making a massive upgrade. Russia can probably be taken in the next turnchat. Immediately after Russia falls, we should start building up and repositioning troops for the invasion of Babylon. With enough force in the right areas and the right movement, we can take the entirety of the country, or at least the mainland areas (everything but the two peninsular cities) in three turns of fighting. Seven cities can fall on the first turn alone (given that we can use old Russia as a base), and Uruk will be the only city falling on the third turn. Perhaps we could ship a few cavs over to the peninsula to take out those cities simultaneously with the actions against the mainland ones. After Babylon falls, Germany can go next, followed by India. By then, we'll control the continent! :D

Love live Fanactica President Bootstoots and may this war lead us to our goal; a world dominated by Fanactica.

If my calculations (and estimations) are correct, we could be looking at rails by the end of our Golden Age! I estimate about 7 more turns for Russia (we will wait 2 turns, then upgrade. Cavalry's movement will more than make up for the time spent waiting to upgrade). 2 more turns to set up the Babylonian attack, with 3-4 turns to live for Babylon. (total of 12-13 turns). This doesn't include Babylon's colonies, though, but we could send caravels there.

Then we'll spend 7 turns beefing up our defenses, building universisties, markets, banks, and more cavalry! We'll also continue to scout India and Germany, probing their weaknesses.

We don't need the whole continent, and I don't want it. Take the Russian cities, and maybe the babylonian's to. Any other cities after those (India and Germany) would be to corrupt to deal with anyway. Taking these cities will do nothing but diminish our forces, weaken our economy, and stretch our worker force.

We don't need the cities. They will do little to help us, they might even harm us.

If we go for culture or histograph, though, it would definitely help to have the cities, and for domination or conquest it will be almost required.

The cities won't help in the short run, but in the long run they will help.

I think next demogame, we should try conquest with 2 decent sized continents (70%). :)

Atleast take the continent, if we want to do a 100K culture victory. We are over 200 points behind Persia, and only 2nd in population and land area.

I agree with Strider, Germany and India would be a hassle to maintain. Agreed, they may turn better in the future, but for now lets focus on what would be most efficient (Russia or Babylon or whatever) and worry about the other countries in the long term (maybe even grab their cities through culture rather than war).

Agreed - wait 2 turns then Blitz Russia with cav. - War should take c.7-10 turns IMO. It is quite possible to complete this war in the space of the next TC. If not, then it will only be mopping up for the first turn or 2 of the following TC. Russia is doomed - there is no question about this.

The bigger question is to do with the status of the (2nd) Baby war: The poll - remember - was pretty overwhelming for revisiting some of our 'friends' in the south west. - "We're Back!!!"

I agree with Bootstraps, Chieftess and Sarevok. First we take Moscow, then the Babs, (then we take Berlin).
Sorry Strider - this continent is ours.
