HI!

I'm having quite a problem with installing Civ3...
Some weeks ago, I needed to uninstall Civ3 and PTW for some reason... Now I want to install it again. The problem is that when the Civ3 installation gets to 62%, a message appears saying:

"Please insert disk 0 that contains the file data3.cab."

This has never happened to me before.

Where can I get this disk or file? Can the problem be that I might have uninstalled Civ3 before PTW?

Please help!

It sound like the install program is trying to read a file that it can't read from the CD-Rom. Open the CD-rom (using explorer top explore rather than auto-play), and see if the CDROM has a file called data3.cab. I actually have a feeling that it doesn't, but it might be something to do with it unzipping files to a temporary directory before installing them.

Is the CDROM scratched at all? You might want to try to clean it.

The CDROM isn't scratched. But I've found a zip-archive containing data1.cab and another zip-archive containing data2.cab. There is no data3.cab. Where can I get this file?

The "data3.cab" problem is generally indicative of a bad CD: either it is scratched/smudged, or there is some other defect not visible to the eye.

Frequently, careful gentle cleaning of the CD fixes the problem. If not, my best advice is to contact Atari tech support, explain the problem, go through all the rigamarole they want, and finally, they might exchange the CD when everything else fails.
