Does anyone else miss the high council from civ 2? I don't know about you, but I like getting my advice in short humerous video clips. I think they should bring this back for cIV

"We're number one in SCIIEEEEEEENNCCCCEEEE!!!"

"Wise men say, only a fool will try to run a kingdom without luxeries, King"

"Would you defend our cities with haystacks sire?! Build city walls!"

"Sire, built more marketplaces, so the finest goods may be traded in our cities"

I support this idea, I would just like to see the advisors give me better advice, as, apparently, some of the others would...

Edit: I would also like my advisors to smile more and frown less, believe it or not, frowns actually weaken and smiles strengthen. If you don't believe me, try this experiment:

Put your hand out to the side, thumb down. Have someone push on your arm to find out how much resistance you have. Next, have the person frown and push, 90% of peoples arms will go straight down. Then have the person smile and you will find that you are actually stronger!

Personally, I'd prefer Firaxis spend their time on creating interesting diplomatic options rather than using time to bring back the High Council.

I agree... besides having an Elvis Impersenator just made the game seem immature and dumb

Or they could take a little more time and do both:)

It was a bit pointless, and therefore of the lowest priority. I'd not mind its return, but only if some bizarre cosmic event caused the developers to have finished the game long before the release date and would otherwise be bored. Even then it'd be better if they spent time making scenarios and adding customisablity features. That adds more to a game than a once-amusing gimmick.

One thing, though. Shouldn't the 'yes' in the poll be I concur, your excellency?

When I think High Council, I think "waste of time".
Civ3 is already a very good game, but it is damn slow. Anything that slows Civ4 down further is a minus in my opinion

'Build city walls first and other improvements later!' I thought it was a bit of fun myself but yes Id prefer they spent time on gameplay that silly things like that. (although i voted yes, hehe)

i liked the advisers

-"we stand astride the world your excellence at that, it pleases me mightily hahaha"
-"no complaints noble leader."

Add them in...they don't slow down the game, because they run separately from the game.
As for detracting from other options that could be added instead...I don't use half of the options in Civ III, why would I want them in Civ IV?
Everyone has their own opinions, I can live without the Advisor animations, but I've seen people quit playing Civ III because of the loss. (I should probably tell them that Civ II is still installed.)

I liked it when everyone was really ticked off at you. Still, it never really had much of a purpose.

I would turn it off after watching it the first couple of games. It's kind of flash w/ no substance, which is not a bad thing -- just not fundamental to the game.

I hope they don't. The video clips were not neccessary and made the game slower. I would rather them improve the gameplay and other elements then worthless mush
