Almost in every games of mine, the AI eventually becomes hateful of me. They always say something like "You are trecheous, we won't let you betray us again" etc. where I don't remember when I have ever done anything bad to them.
I think Firaxis should implement some kind of rep hit warning system. The foreign advisor should be doing this. For example, I heard if we have military alliance with civ a against civ b and we sign peace treaty with civ b before 20 turns we will get a rep hit. The foreign advisor should give us a warning, saying something like "This will cause tension with civ a, are you sure?".

yea, course itd be irritatin if you were trying to dominate, wiping out civ A will make civs B,C,D,E,F,G mad at you are you sure?

In fact, they can add this feature to the next patch for C3C. It is very easy to implement. They should give an option to turn it on and off, just like the civil disorder popup.

good idea

when i was fairly new i never gave into bully demands, instead after they declared war on me,i had their neighbour ally with me and then made peace ASAP

then after a few times every single civ wanted my head and i didnt know why!

Yep, that would be good. Learning how to cultivate a good rep is not easy.

If they're going to patch, then they should remove the rep hit when you do not break the deal - they loose their port or road or whatever.

You should get a warning when considering a MPP with someone already at war, like 'A war with X,Y,Z is likely if you sign this'.

Also, there should be an option to break an MPP instead of automatically declaring war.

it's a good idea, and it has the benefit of explicitly presenting the player with another choice, which is always good. :goodjob:

I agree, a little heads up about who might get pissed off if you do something would be most helpful.

Yes, but of course it should cause a major rep hit, and kiss your chances of anyone signing MPPs with you in the future goodbye.

Great idea - that would make the advisor useful (imagine that!)

Isn't it obvious that breaking treaties are leading to bad diplomatic relations?

Yes, but its not always obvious when you're going to be breaking treaties. Consider the example given by Dida at the beginning of the thread: if you forget that it's been less than 20 turns since you signed an alliance with a against b, then you won't realize that by signing a peace treaty with b you're actually breaking a treaty with a.

And that's the problem: sometimes you can get a rap hit for doing something like signing a treaty. It seems like it would be a good idea if your advisor would warn you if signing one treaty would cause you to break a different one. Even if I remember my alliance with a, its irritating to have to go talk to a's leader in order to check how many turns are left in the alliance before deciding whether I can legitimately sign for peace with b.

It's sometimes difficult to keep track of all the relations between nations. Especially when a foreign civ starts the negotiation of MPP or MA you don't have a change to check the other existing treaties, that might conflict with the new proposed one. So a feature to allow me to check my trade advisor screen would also be helpfull for avoiding rep-hits. Combined with a warning system, it would be great.

I'd like to see a rep guage to next to each civ face in the foreign minister window, even if its vague like the current global warning sun.

Great Idea!

(but it's probably only going to be for sale in the Strategy Guide^tm)

Great idea!

I'd also like a pop-up when someone else breaks a treaty with me. It's annoying when someone signs a peace treaty with our mutual enemy, and it doesn't seem like it was twenty turns, but I'm not completely sure...
