And so WAR ERUPTS IN EUROPE.....again

On September 1st 1939, Hitler unleashes his panzers on Poland on a false pretext of retaliation for a Polish suprise attack. Poznan falls easily to the German's Blitzkrieg tactics. However, unlike as history records, Adolf gets very excited with the inital success of the Wehrmacht and during his quite time with Eva, he suffers a stroke and dies.

Rudolf Hess drops all notions about negotiating a peace and becomes Fuhrer. He continues the war but without interfering with his generals and scientists........

I'll play and post my turn later today.

-I'm playing in two pbems at apolyton (Age of War and 30 years war), but both seems stalled right now in the wake of CivIII. Anyway, I know the procedure. Now we're not so many players, so we might actually have a fair chance of getting somewhere with this one.

I suggest we post the game (zipped) here occasionally, along with our progress reports.

Hey can i play in this PBEM?
If so i'll download the scenario tonight when i get off of work.

We have already agreed to a three player game to get things moving. Also, the way the scenario is set up, a four player game would have to drop Russia and play Axis + minorAxis vs Allies + minorAllies. So I don't think we can add another player for our first try.

BUT

Willemvanoranje, who has just finished his review of ZWK, also indicated interest. All you need to do is russle up a third player and we can have a parallel game.

You know, not only do you have to win, but you have to win faster than your doppelganger in the alternate timeline.

1.04 PLAYER ALLOCATION

In a single player game, you can play as the Axis. The Allies are a possible alternative.

If there are 2 human players, they should play as the Axis and Allies. The goal of the Axis is to capture London and Moscow while the goal of the Allies is to capture Berlin. If the Soviets reach Berlin before the Allies, then both players lose. (It is also possible to play in an Allies/Soviet race to Berlin game.)

If there are 3 human players, the third player should play as the Soviets and the same goals apply. The only difference is that if the Soviets reach Berlin before the Allies, then the Soviet player wins.

If there are 4 human players, the third and fourth player should play the Minor Axis and Minor Allies. This combination is a team scenario and the minors have to stay allied with their respective partners till the end. Any victory is a joint one and once again if the Soviets reach Berlin before the Allies, then all players lose.

The 5 player game is the same as the four player game except that the fifth player plays as the Soviets. As with the three player game, if the Soviets reach Berlin before the Allies, then the Soviet player wins.

Neutrals consists of Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Denmark, Albania, Ireland, the Baltic states and YUGOSLAVIA.

Independents consist of SPAIN, Turkey and Switzerland and Sweeden.

Rotterdam and Amsterdam has fallen early this morning, in the glorious attempt of Der Vaterland to reclaim original german territory.

"This is only the beginning," said Führer Hess in a speech following the conquest, and calmed the mob, whose demands for our immediate attacks on Minor Allied headquarters in Paris are clear and unhesitant. "We must not overextend ourselves in this campaign." said Der Führer, "-Paris will fall swiftly enough! If we look at der wulf, and see that he understands to wait for his prey, before he attacks, taking only the weakest before the strongest. So shall we be cunning like der wulf, and wait for our prey to show its weakness! -Soon enough the fiendish dog in London will wag its tail and beg for surrender to the great army of Der Reich!" At this point in the speech, the mob went into a craze, and army police had to escort Der Führer in safety for the thousands of women who wanted to touch him and claim a piece of his clothing.

His majesty's government is shocked at the speedy progress of the German juggernaut. Production of war materials is emphasized through out the empire but Great Britain still lacks credible modern designs to thwart the Nazi's mighty panzer legions. That being the case, the PM (thats me) has decided to focus on reinforcing its naval and air assets and accelerating research until the time is ripe.

Queen Beatrix and the Dutch governemtn escape to Britain and issue a plea for help. At British high command, after great deliberation, a decision has been made to leave the Neutrals to their fate so as to not waste precious resources. Ironically, across the Atlantic, the US continues to observe the events in Europe silently. Despite supporting rhetoric, no tangible help is forthcoming.

p.s. I don't know why its turn 2. I never noticed a problem before. In anycase, I have named my save file accordingly to stop confusion.

You know, we could play a 5 player e-mail game. Just let me and Sun be Minor Axis and Minor Allied or something.

First off, I'll play my turn tonight.

Second, this thread should be in MP section, this isn't the scenario league, it's Scenario Creation.
The other games played here were playtests, this is recreation.

Third, as Kob knows, once I get going, we play at a fast clip.
(and I have to make sure I have V.2 installed, I did so much playtesting on that, I'm STILL confused! :crazyeyes )

I thought about that but it seemed to me that the multiplayer forum was more 'live' multiplayer games and also dealing with the unmodified Civ. There is a RDragon PBEM thread but it is just a link to the real thread at SLeague.

So there is the question of whether a PBEM game belongs in the multi-player forum.

Then there it is the question of whether a 'scenario' multiplayer belongs in the scenario or multiplayer forum.

From the emotional point of view. True it is recreation and not testing - but somehow I feel more at 'home' on this forum. This PBEM game is more a game amongst the scenario creation forum people- who somehow are different from normal players.

In anycase, I bow to the wishes of the powers that be if they wish to move this thread (and the other thread) to the MP forum.

First, the 2 thing.
Kob, you set the timer to 2 weeks perturn, so it counts off 2,4,6 ect.
Second, I sould have started, my first turn was skipped, but that's OK, let us continue.
Third, I don't know where to send the save, so I'll post it here.

Forth, I'm playing a PBEM scenario with John Ellis in the MP section, that is indeed where MP games go, but it hardly matters.

oh yeah, the turn interval is set to every fortnight. That makes the scenario last about the length of the actual war, about 25 turns a year.

Russians are the first on the list of tribes but the Axis are supposed to be the first player - I asked the scenario desiger to confirm this.

"We assure our great neighbour to the east, that she has nothing to fear from the great reich of Germany," said Führer Hess in a radio-transmitted speech, to calm russian fears. "We wish nothing but friendship with the socialist peoples. Our war is against the treacherous dog in London, whose capitalist friends in the Americas threaten the stability of Europe."

Directly confronted with the russian demands for raw materials by a russian journalist, der führer did neither confirm nor deny that any such negotiations would take place in the near future. In fact it is highly probable that such talks will help calm russian fears and help build the glorious german-russian friendship of the future.

Elsewhere, an Italian attack on El-Alamein is repulsed with ease by a newly formed mediterranean British Naval task force, H-force.

"We have agreed to a period of peace, on territorial postions, and the Reich has agreed to provide us certain technical support, to enhance our armed forces" comrade Molotov said.

We also will not be involved in the Imperialist wars that ravege the west, while repressing the prolatariat!
