Amendment to CoL F.2

Do you approve of the following changes to Section F.2 of the Code of Laws?

Changes are in bold and italics.
Summary: Change the supermajority threshold from 67% to 2/3.

Current:

Section F.2 Declaration of War
To declare a war, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will create a normal poll for the House, and a thread poll for the Senate. If more than 50% of the voters, not counting abstain, in both polls support the declaration, war can be declared. If either poll gains a 67% majority in support of war, war may be declared regardless of the other poll.

Proposed:

Section F.2 Declaration of War

Poll will be up for 3 days. To amend the Code of Laws, there must be more Yes votes than No votes.

This ammendment fixes a minor error, which will make the clause work the way it is supposed to. Saying that, I voted YES.

Since it was originally meant to be a two-third majority but isn't due to a small rounding error, I vote yes.

I vote no because, initial intent aside, I do not want to give the Senate too much power in terms of war declarations. Only an overwhelming majority should be able to override the majority of the citizenry in such a crucial decision, and I do not consider 4-2 to be such a majority.

i voted no. I feel that both the people and the senate should have an equal say in war declaration. if either one gets more then 2/3rds majority they clearly have more power. also, if the people's poll gets 2/3 rds, the people have more power and the government has none, but this is also goes both ways. government gets 2/3rds, they have power and the people have none.

i voted no. As far as I can see, the law as written is a great way to invite some politics into this toothless game. If the senate votes overwhelmingly for an option the people despise, then we may have interesting elections for once.

But in reality, this vote is merely to give our stamp of approval to the "two thirds" verbage. For this reason and the last, I will vote YES.

This poll has closed with a final tally of 17 votes for the amendment, 3 votes against the amendment and 1 abstention.

This amendment has PASSED the Assembly.
