I think in this case, yes they are.

What they need is support from the lebanese people and government. You don't do that by blowing up airports highways and blockading an entire nation. What you do is launch small token attacks on hezbollah targets and try and cal lthe international community and the lebanese government to your plight. You dont kill hundreds of civilians to try and show-opff your power and force the lebanese to do what you want, history has shown that that doesn't work.

It's frightening the amount of people who do think it will work, especially given the failure of the last Israeli incursion. People are dumb though, I mean how does bombing the granny out of a country encourage anything but hatred and violence, I was watching an ex correspondent from the Middle East stating that her friends in Lebanon who had been long time Hezbollah haters now talked of them without biterness, there fear and anger was turned against Israel, the whole notion that this is going to stop terrror not escalate it is pure delusion IMO. I also saw some citizens on the news ranting against Israel after they had destroyed there businesses and homes, future terrorist recruits in the making maybe?

I don't know enough about it. For example, I don't know whether legit Hezbollah targets are actually hiding among the populace.

So to you if say Israel could wipe out a few hezbollah targets by killing over 200 civilians and turning an entire nation against their cause then they're taking the right course?

If anyone honestly thinks that Israel invaded because of their captured soldiers, they need their head examined.

You forgot the attacks to Haifa.

Oh... blessing Alzheimer.

I think Israel is totally justified in its actions. If they give in on this, it opens up a whole can of worms, becuase terrorists will kidnap Israeli soldiers every time they want something.

You can bet the terrorists are looking at what is going on right now, and thinking twice about kidnapping soldiers anytime in the near future.

I very much doubt that. More likely they are looking at it and thinking Israel is a good target if they want attention. The only possible good thing to come out of this is the thinning of Hezbollah ranks, though I feel the will be quickly replaced :(.

Terrorists? How about the bombing of the King David hotel in 1946? were they terrorists or people trying to liberate their homelands... sounds like hypocrisy to me.

Commonwealth. The destuction of Lebanon's infrastructure and the killing of civilians is not warranted for the lives of three soldiers.

I do believe that Israel is justified in crossing the border and facing Hezbollah face to face.

@happy_Alex: Stephen Harper has embarrassed Canada beyond anything Tony Blair could ever hope to accomplish.

and that's a distinction Hezbollah and others will make?

And what does that have to do with the discussion?

Are you trying to say that Hezbollah is finding an excuse to attack Israel? Or are you trying to find it for them?

Have you read my link?
