How many great people do you get?

I don't usually shadow the All Leader Challenge (ALC) games, but the most recent one (number 7? The one with Alex.) looked interesting to me. I have a fondness for the historical Greece and Alexander, so I downloaded the 4000 BC save and had at it. By the end of the game (1980 SS victory), I had gotten 30 great people, not counting the free ones from techs! For reference, this was Vanilla, not Warlords (though I do play Warlords games, too).

What's the best you've gotten?

As a free bonus, here's the biggest city that I've ever had. I captured Cuzco millennia ago, then built it into my GP farm.

I had a game go till 2050 and points win. I had 3 great people farms (cities) by the end I needed 3800 GPP for next great person. So I guess thats 38. Oh and by the way I only ever went through one golden age.. I think I may even still have that save

... by the end I needed 3800 GPP for next great person. So I guess thats 38.

Nope.

After you get 10 generated great people the increase in points needed for the next one increases. On normal the points at which they become available are:

100 200 ... 1000 1200 1400 ... 3000

The points increase goes from 100 to 200 after 10 great people and I believe to 300 after 20 great people.

3800 GPP is not an amount required in a normal speed game. Here are the the number of GPPs required for each GP.

Code:
GP	Incr	Cost	Total
1	100	100	100
2	100	200	300
3	100	300	600
4	100	400	1000
5	100	500	1500
6	100	600	2100
7	100	700	2800
8	100	800	3600
9	100	900	4500
10	100	1000	5500
11	200	1200	6700
12	200	1400	8100
13	200	1600	9700
14	200	1800	11500
15	200	2000	13500
16	200	2200	15700
17	200	2400	18100
18	200	2600	20700
19	200	2800	23500
20	200	3000	26500
21	300	3300	29800
22	300	3600	33400
23	300	3900	37300
24	300	4200	41500
25	300	4500	46000
26	300	4800	50800
27	300	5100	55900
28	300	5400	61300
29	300	5700	67000
30	300	6000	73000

You can see that the 22nd GP requires 3600 and the 23rd needs 3900. I guess you were playing on another speed or maybe forgot the exact number of GPP required.

You guys are right. Ive played only normal speed. I dug out the game and double checked. It was 3400 pts. However, while I was looking through my pass off games (I save them for the boy to play after Im done--- he likes to war but cant get that far for modern wars)-- where was I? Oh yea, digging thru the games and found one where I needed 4900pts for next GP.
Anyways, 3400 is still not on the list, but 4900 is.. the hell if I know why I was thinking 3800. Here are screenies.
Couldnt remember the total amount of GP for each game.. incidentally these were my first two games and was only warlord level
So I see thats 30 GP would be 6000 pts.. thats better than Ive done even in vanilla when I played before. I was pretty happy with the ones Ive gotten though, and had trouble finding use for them

I don't usually get as far as 6000 great person points, but this game seemed to be quite conducive to it. Hopefully, I can do it again some day. I stayed in Pacifism for most of the game, irrigated quite obsessively, and built most of the wonders. Longer games obviously generate more great people, too.
