Dear internet, please help.
I have a custom built computer that I use to play civ 5. I bought the game and have been enjoying without problems since its release. Recently, however, the game has given me an error every time I try to start it up. The error occurs during the intro screen roughly when my computer usually finishes loading the program and I would normally skip the intro. It reads "a problem has caused the program to stop working" and it closes.
I have tried reverting back to x9 even though my specs are well above minimum. I've also tried verifying the game cache, skipping the intro, and starting in windowed mode. I updated my video card driver. The error still occurs, but what's weird is every once in a while it will actually go through and I'll be able to play--once I get to the main menu the game works fine.
Does anyone have any guesses as to what's going on?
