Anyone else think the Hanse is extremely powerful?

Playing an epic speed game at the moment and I'm building late game wonders in 8 turns in my Capital.

I have a massive 45% production boost in all my cities as they each have a Hanse and all my Trade routes are with City States.

I also took the Religious Community belief for an extra 15% production in each city. (Does anyone else always take this belief? I just find production so important)

I'm dominating the game (Its on Emperor, I usually play on Immortal except I'm testing the waters of BNW) and several times, despite being #1 in Tech, I have had no further buildings to build in some of my cities due to my massive production base. I have tons of gold from getting Stock Exchanges up so quick, lots of food from getting Hospitals up so quick and have built a strong enough army to deter an aggressive neighbouring Japan in practically no time.

Overall the introduction of the Hanse is one of my favourite changes in BNW. Hugely useful and reflects Germany's prowess in industry.

It's pretty beast, especially if you nab Petra and Colossus. But it does make you choose between feeding your GP farm and the production boost.

As for RC... it's pretty cool, yeah. Definitely a strong belief for a tall empire, nice synergy with ToA and loads of food caravans prior to Banking. Wide, I prefer more buildings of worship.

Yep. The only real mistake I made in this game was not constructing the Colossus. As I'm still new to BNW I haven't yet broken out of the habit of ignoring it as I did so much in G&K, as it was a much less useful wonder back then. I also find now that the AI does not prioritise it as much as they use to?

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by choosing between Great Person farming and production. Do you refer to allocating specialists to factories/workshops etc?

Or are you referring to Gold in that trading routes to city states are generally less profitable than those sent to other Civs. I can see the issue there however I think having 50% extra production per city outweighs the detriment of having less gold from trade routes.

In any case, I'm very happy now that I can enjoy playing Germany without having to resort to constant war. I've always preferred Civs with a unique building/improvement over those with 2 Unique units.

I mean, you've got a caravan, and you can either make a foreign trade route or send food to one of your cities. Usually it makes sense to have a few feeding the capital to run a bunch of specialists, but the Hanse's ability demands foreign trade if possible.

Makes ToA and HG even more important to ensure a big surplus, I think.

That is spot on actually.

I just won the game about an hour ago. In the end I directed food caravans to Berlin since I didn't think it was growing fast enough. I don't think it is wise to direct all trade routes to City States as Germany unless you're competing for crucial wonders or international projects.

I still had 35% extra production in every city which is massive and got my capital to about 47 size before the game ended.

It's interesting that I got similar experience with my last game as Romans, due to their +25% production boots for building buildings that they already have in Rome.
