can't even play a hotseat

when i try to begin a hotseat game the game freezes when it says "assigning team colors" on the progress bar. I have yet to be able to play a hotseat game. I have returned that specific game and reinstalled everything time and time again. Has anyone else had this problem? or knows how to fix it?

Don't worry, hotseat games are bugged anyway. Player 1 never gets to know what the AIs are doing, or whether he's lost units or had war declared on him or something. You're not losing out on anything big.
