Can't Re-Load RFC

When I play RFC, it works fine, no bugs or nothing. I can load it if I save before I switch civilizations, but if I try to load after I switch to say... America... the game won't let me.
I opens to the starting screen, with the alternating day/night around the globe. No options, not even to close the window. So I have to Ctrl-Alt-Del.
I have never installed a mod or a patch, so if that is the answer, a link to how to install would be appreciated.

I have never downloaded any mod 'enhancers' before. Is it just like regular downloading? Oh... and btw, how to I download modcomps?

Just download RFC that you can find on this website (either in the download database or in the RFC forum), and place it into your MOD folder.

But the problem is that the only mod folder I found is in the load game section, which is completely empty except for Single player and Hotseat. Of course, they're saved, and that's why they're in load game section in first place. But other than that, I have not found anything.

The Mods folder is in Program Files/Firaxis Games/Civilization 4/Beyond the Sword/Mods

Place the folder you dowload from http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=177 in there, replacing the RFC folder that came with BTS.

You won't be able to play old saved games with the newest version, IIRC.
