Combat Odds Missing

Whenever I try and play a game, combat odds are missing.
Also, some writing in the game (custom scenarios in the menu for example) comes up as:
TXT_KEY_(whatever it is goes here)
Ive tired reinstalling, and it hasnt done anything.
I am left clueless as to why its happening

the combat odds have been taken out of the game to improve performance, they were kinda heavy on the cpu

Not being able to play FFH because i dont know if ill win combat is no fun

sorry, I thought you couldn't see the combat log! not being able to see the odds is definitely serious. I'm not sure what's going on but I guess Kael will drop in and try to help you

Please help. I have the same problem with the version of Civ4 that came out of my Civilization Chronicles box set. Civilization4.exe is version 1.0.9.1722.
