During the early stages of installing Sid Meier's Civilization 3 on my laptop (I am the admin, and sole user of this machine which currently runs on Windows 7 ) a message box pops up with this message:
COMPONENT TRANSFER ERROR
Component: Program Files
File Group: Program Files
File: C:\Program Files (x86)\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\ (this final bit of the file path changes each time I try and install the game)
Error: Access is denied
I have tried running the setup (bypassing Autorun) in compatibility mode and as administrator, to no avail. After several attempts at installation however, an icon has appeared on the start menu for this program even though it never fully installed. Trying to load the program using this newly arrived shortcut just comes up with an error, unsurprisingly!
My laptop isn't that old a model - it is an EasyNote TH with an Intel Pentium processor T4500 with medium memory (3GB DDR3 Memory, 250 GB HDD).
Any suggestions?
