Gold output from resources

When I found my city, I get the right amount of gold from all the resources in my borders. But as soon as city growth causes my borders to expand or I buy more tiles, any resource which is now in my border will give me no gold at all. I have tried improving them with mines and plantations to no avail.
The 3 gold you see I am getting comes from the palace in my city, everyone gets that.
But the ivory and silver which should give me 4 extra gold gives me nothing.

Do you mind posting a screenshot of your city-screen with the citizen tile allocation? It is entirely possible that your citizens are not working the respective tiles hence you are not getting the gold.

Oh didn't realize citizen management was a thing.
Thanks Stellarnight!

yep, you have to work tiles to get the gold from them. Passive gold sources come from trades, trade routes, city connections to capital, certain buildings (market, bank, stock exchange), religion, and palace. Later, some specialists give gold too, though that is also non-passive, as you have to assign them to work in specialist building spots in the above 3 buildings. There are other nuances but that is the basics.

A few wonders (Machu Picchu for example) give additional Gold, too. But everything that is built/harvested on tiles needs to be worked, with... the exception of 1(?) Natural Wonder that gives Happiness just by being inside of your borders.

If you put your citizens in tiles that make gold, you will get paid that amount of gpt that's in a tile with gold.
