How many civs do you play as?

I try to play a different civ every time.

I try to, but I tend to pick around the heavy military civs (so much micro!).
When I play, my priority is trying to "max" that civ. I guess that probably makes me a bit less competitive, because I'm not that interested in the optimal meta.

I play on random (sans Venice), but do y'all realize you kinda play them the same way?

E.g. I hardly ever choose Tradition, and typically take + finish Fealty if I found a religion. Then usually take the Rationalism opener, some Industry, etc.

I worry I struggle on Diety because I'm always trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

On Deity, how you are playing sounds common.

Tradition requires a strict set of starting requirements in order to win at that difficulty. However, if you get the right start, it can be insanely strong, which is why you can't really buff it.

Try Progress into Authority, or Authority into Progress if you haven't already. It's strong.
