[BTS] I can't seem to get the mod to load

i placed the mod's folder in the "Mods" subfolder like i should then go to Load the Mod in the game, it begins to restart the game, then it doesn't start. it just stops. what is wrong?

Is the assets folder found within the caveman2cosmos folder?
Make sure it is not a folder too much like this: Mods\C2C\Caveman2cosmos\assets

the path is "Mods\Caveman2Cosmos\Assets", what should i do?

What civ IV bts edition do you own, steam, physical disc, gog?
How long did you try waiting for the mod to launch? Was civ listed as an active process in task manager when you waited for C2C to launch.
What OS and hardware are you using?

How/where did you obtain your copy of C2C?

five minutes, then civ disappeared in task manager
windows 10 HP laptop, non-gaming hardware; 2.0 GHz 4 GB RAM

I Pirated it off <SNIP> don't have access to steam gift cards where i live and i don't have a card i can use.

it works just fine all other times.
