module civs dont work for me,no matter what

so i saw topsecrets video on how to install module civs,i wanted to try them out.....however when i did,the game crashed......and i had modular xml loading on......what is going on?

yes,i have the steam version,so it should be updated to the latest patch

Update:
i didnt have the "CustomCivilizations" folder in the modules folder......problem solved!

or maybe not........i tried a pre-made custom civ mod with a module civ and it worked.....but my custom mod folder doesnt work......

or maybe i just didnt put the diplomacy assets in the right folder......
