Multiplayer w/ AI tip, please

How do I create positive relations with AIs when I play MP? I'll usually have a few AIs on the map when my friends and I play, and they always hate me. I can't remember the last time I got a declaration of friendship with an AI.

Do i need to give them gifts early? Is it inevitable that they'll hate me for my rapid expansion and warmongering?

AI in MP blows. You will never have a enjoyable MP game with AI in them, just dont use them.

They will not initiate anything, no wars. Hate means nothing. They might fight back if you dow but you cant lose.
