The network node is a combination of communications hub and a huge network server. Similar to the way a wireless router worked on a home scale in the early 21st century, this hub handles the entire wireless network traffic within an entire city. It not only allows lightning fast connection to the main computer facilities from any wireless device within the broadcasting radius, but it also connects devices among each other for personal communication.

Inspired by the SMAC facility and made for the Planetfall team, but a tower like this is probably useful for a lot of sci-fi/near-future themed things, perhaps even a vanilla broadcasting tower in the future era. This model is a bit utilitarian, but that reflects the nature of it, I guess. Due to it's high tower, however, it will stick out in less developed cities and then slowly fade into the rest of the buildings - a quality I sort of like for such a building. Also check out the three antennas on top of the node - they're gold-bronze coloured and give the building a splash of life - nice if you use it at a larger scale for some other purpose.

Recommended fScale = 1.5; fInterfaceScale = 0.4; model has 281 polys.

What mod are the screens from? Looks interesting.

From Planetfall. LT was so kind to rework the background textures for the Datalinks (civilopedia in Civ4 terms).
Planetfall is a total conversion based on the Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri game.
