Playing with someone from another country

Hi,

My husband has a problem where he can't play multiplayer with his brother in France. He couldn't join his brother's game in France as he got an error message and his brother could join his game when he hosted it but my husband could not see him and he lagged the whole game out. When he left, my husband and his other friends could play again. He invited him through Steam as well, so I'm not sure if it is a Steam issue or a Civ issue. Is there an issue where you can't play with people in other countries and if so is there any way to fix it?

Being in another country is not the issue. The issue is likely either that your husbands brother has a weak internet connection or a weak computer that can barely play Civ5, or both. The fact that your husband can play with his other friends well, just not his brother in France points clearly to his brother having the problems. His brother might also have router/firewall issues causing him issues. But it is definitely something on his brothers end.
