spaceships?

im being really thick but how do you send up a spaceship? i have built the parts moved them to my capital but there are no options to move them into it. What am i missing? i can put more than one part in at a time. Is it because i have already lost the game?

EDIT: Sorry I didn't read your post to the end. How could you continue the game when you lose? I remember that you can only continue the game if you win.

Normally there is a button in the unit menu, that says, "Build spaceship part" or something like that.
