The fog of war might be hiding too much

After I have explored an area and then left the area, the fog of war that lays over the explored area doesn't allow the discernment between grassland and plains. I think the area should be darker, as if in night, but the colors of the terrain should still be easy to tell apart. I know that it is unlikely to get patched, but maybe someone that still mods might want to make a mod for it.

The fog of war could be night, and the visible part day ! But make it a mode just like Uncharted 4 "filters" ?

Anyway I did not have the need to distinct plain from grassland in the fog of war yet. (or I suppose I do because I keep the yields displayed always as default)

As we are at it, I find the update of the fog of war very handy as a player. But I'm wondering if the fog of war shouldn't go back to full unknown lands after a while ; it would emphasis expansion even with crappy/small cities. As well as limiting barbarians uprisings. I guess a form of small city could be a thing, like cottages in Civ4, or outposts. More generally, I think we should be able to build new cities directly in the queue of an existing one, instead of having to build/move/escort/found new cities. Those small cities could even be like creep tumors in Starcraft 2. I don't know if we should extend the workable radius though, as it might annihilate the need to make new cities.

In parallel, we could still do settlers the old fashion way, to grab a far away natural wonder or a far away strategic or luxury resource. We could also forward settle a foe, at the cost of increased costs for settlers compared to cities built from the queue.

As to keeping those "colonies" (cities made with settlers that settle disconnected of your capital), it would depend a lot on what system Civ7 has so it's off topic.
