I'd like to use units like Missionaries and Inquisitors (and perhaps other civilian units, like early Great Generals) as combat units in my mod (with a melee or ranged attack). Is it possible to make changes in the art defines to adapt their animations for combat (they don't have to look very good, I just need something that looks like a unit making an attack), or the models lack appropriate animations, so it's not possible at all?

Not without creating new animations for those units.

But it may be possible to add ranged effects, and the great general may have a combat animation...

Can you help me with adding the ranged effects? I tried to apply the ranged attack of a Cannon to them using a similar method as it's done with mages (recolored Scouts) in the Fearun Scenario, but it doesn't seem to work...

Also, if an enemy unit attacks a unit based on Missionary graphics in melee, the attacker's attack animation is not displayed.

and the great general may have a combat animation...

Good news, I'm going to use them as heroes in later versions of the mod :)
