Veteran soldiers won't fight!

Hello, I am playing Colonization with the 1.01f patch. I've decided to prepare for the revolution by training mass amounts of professional soldiers in my universities and schools. There's one trouble though: Now that the revolution started, they won't fight the kings' troops! Sometimes they defend, but I've just had a whole city surrender, simply because the soldiers just won't fight!

The only veteran troops that fight are troops I've gotten at the dock in Europe. Their avatar is slightly different.

Help! Did this happen before? Is it a bug or did I do something wrong?

Please note the difference between unit and profession.

You may have trained the units, but it sounds like not having assigend them to the profession soldier (and thus, not having equipped them with weapons - which have to be available at the moment at which you assign them to this profession).

The European veterans come with being assigned to the profession and are equipped with weapons, so this explains the different behaviour.
