When I was younger, I was slightly uncomfortable that the Muslim population in Denmark was growing.

I've eventually realized that it doesn't matter at all, really, and I've come to mostly question why people make these statistics in the first place.

I mean, even if some culture slowly declines or disappears, it's usually because it's not worth keeping. That's what's been happening for the length of human history anyways.

1. Won't Muslim British people be uniquely British? Just like all other immigrants over the millennia have become?
2. Will Muslim numbers continue to rise at the same rate?

1) Some will. Then again, the "immigrants" we've had prior to 1948 have solely been other Europeans. People of a mainly Christian background (or Jewish) - I think this reduces the friction of cohabitation and intergration. The same cannot be said for people who come from a completely different culture and value sytem like Pakistan.
2) I don't know haven't seen the figures. Plotinus worked it out for me, at mid-2000 rates the Muslims will have a majority by 2100. Demographics are notoriously difficiult to estimate successfully, basically like a economic prediction - useless
3) Yeah I think it will be. I did read somewhere that 2nd and 3rd generation Muslims are actually more strict and conservative then there forebearers. They don't drink, have a firmer view on homosexuals et al.
4) I'm pleading the 5th anyway - the Lord Joakim defense. I have a good friend who is a Pakistani Musselman ergo i'm clean of bigotry

Fair point.

I'm just not buying his narrative that government categorization is what creates the social perception of race and the consequent discrimination. I'm not too happy with the arbitrary criteria of what makes one "black" or "white", but in the end it quite accurately reflects the common perception of race. Surely there is some form of positive feedback loop involved in this behavior, but in the end if the government isn't even capable of figuring out the ethnic makeup of its cities and counties, it can do nothing to protect these minorities, and in the end they would be even worse off.
