Windmills when they first become available are pretty horrible.
I do like riverside windmills after replaceable parts with financial civs though, as they give you 3 commerce even before electricity.
This is the best use of windmills i've ever had.
Skirmisher rushes work because they're cheap, and you don't need to hook up any secondary resources. Do it with a protective leader and it's too cheap.
Did isabella plant a city in northwest africa yet? There's a really nice spot that has crabs, sheep, wheat, and wine within it's BFC, with an extra ivory in its third ring. If its available you should definitely go grab it.
Try global highlands and arid climate. It's a fun map. It's not a flat map like the plain highlands script, instead it wraps and produces land masses like fractal. There are tons of hills, and tons of flood plains. And more gold than you've ever seen because of all the desert hills.
