I was curious if anybody else has used this exploit? I wanted to try to win at Deity level, so I played with Rome against Kongo on a duel sized continents map. I went for a religion victory since Kongo can't found their own religion, and the win was very easy (I won the game by about 500 BC)...

I think the main thing limiting the usefulness of the great wall is the AI's difficulty in attacking the player's cities--it is just not necessary. It doesn't coordinate forces very well...nor does it engage in large scale pillaging...so there is no use wasting hammers on a wonder that limits...

I'm not sure, but I think the more modern guns on a WWII Destroyer would out-range the larger caliber, but older guns on the late 1800's ironclad. The Destroyer would have a major speed advantage too. Tactically, it would fire from just outside the ironclads range, bombarding it with shells...

You can disable start bias in the advanced section of the game setup screen. I always do...it makes for a more interesting game, in my opinion.

I would say, if you loved civ iv, you will not like civ v. If civ iii was more your bag, then it is probably worth buying civ v. If you are new to civilization, you will probably find civ v cool during the learning curve, but then clouds will appear on the horizon after you get into it.

After playing a few games post-patch, I am with Sullla on this...I don't see enough of an improvement to make civ v worth playing further. Maybe there will be some super mods in the future, but for now it has been uninstalled. Maybe I'll go back and find a good civ iv mod to fool around with...

I'm assuming "leaves Firaxis" really means "was fired by Firaxis"...not because I know that to be true, but it makes me feel better about things. Ding dong the witch is dead...

simple fix instead of library nerfing: make techs a bit more costly in terms of beakers, and make great scientists less powerful. Also, make units a bit cheaper so you can build them before they go obsolete.

I think this tells us more about the design of the game and the designers than the AI. A big focus of the patch seems to be making the game more challenging for better players on higher difficulties. ICS is the way for the AI to compete, without meaningful improvements to their decision...
