    Never-Before-Seen Civs Poll

    Airplanes and Submarines?

I certainly hope the bombers and/or fighters will be able to perform recon missions - preferably even automated each turn. The game Empire from decades ago allowed that.

    Airplanes and Submarines?

I did like how in Civ4 you could see your fighters circling while assigned air defense missions. I also liked how you could send submarines, in 3 or 4, into opponent's territory without declaring war. But matching the mechanics of that with diplomacy is not easy.

    Nuke the spaceport?

It could be a missile shield/SDI national wonder type thing. It could also just be a powerful air defense unit. The missile defenses we have today are more like the latter. The Russian S-400 & S-500, for instance, are supposed to be able to shoot down nuclear missiles/warheads. That's why...

    Defending your city..

I think the use of support units will assist the AI's combat execution. The AI can more easily understand to keep certain units stacked with one another; it's a lot harder for the AI to move, say, siege and melee units around the map without letting a human pick them off.

Graphics: Should bldgs in city tile be "bigger" than bldgs in surrounding tiles?

Scale has always been off in Civ, you have giant warriors towering over giant sawmills. It's a question of: do the graphics look nice as a whole, and are the graphics useful (do they easily display info and allow you to control the game?). What we super-analyze here will probably seem normal...

    Civ VI in VR?

If Civ6 ever adds a VR component it will probably be more of a gimmick than anything else, but by Civ7, who knows. I'm skeptical that VR would add a lot to a game like Civ, but as another view (normal/strategic/VR views) it could be interesting, perhaps during combat.

    Demographics/statistics/Info Addict etc.

Beyond a certain age/tech or when the UN is built, players should be able to see all the demographics for all other players. But I think it is nice, in earlier eras, to be in the dark with a lot of "known unknowns" regarding other civs. Yes. I think Civ 3 or 4 had that as well.

    Civ 5...still a bit silly?

I agree with the OP. Previous versions of Civ were fun and humorous, but not as silly as Civ5. It's a clear step backwards. I thought that was a great touch in Civ4. Simple but very serious simultaneously.

What will you be doing untill the patch comes out?

Playing Civ4, like I've been doing for the past year.

Were "stacks of doom" really that bad?

No, stacks of doom were not that bad. The ease of use, and the realism, of SOD are enjoyable to work with. They don't clutter the screen and it's closer to how real militaries operate. Militaries want to concentrate their power to make significant changes on the battlefield one step at a time...

Large map. Not one single mountain.

Strange. But given that it's an archipelago map I wouldn't be terribly upset. On a continents map this would be totally unacceptable.

Subs can't go within enemy borders?

"You're playing a game" is not a reason to include or exclude any particular feature or rule. The feature should make sense for a game called "Civilization," in that it should, in some way, be modeled after the kinds of things civilizations have done. Subs entering rival territory during...

CIV 5 the worst letdown in PC gaming, ever.

Spaceship Parts Wont Go Into Capital?

Which should pertain to combat units during wartime only. There's no reason (gameplay or realism) that a couple workers can't hang out in the same city.
