Which movie(s) have you seen recently- VIII Remake of the 80s

You're right. It's a really short four hrs film. Apparently, it's a really good film to see in cinema for the panoramic shots (esp people appearing out in the distance).

Could Kim Jong Un be a serious dude who might actually start a war?

I don't think that they'll start a war unless they feel that the regime is on the verge of collapse. At that point, since the result is bound to be the same, they may well attack figuring that they've got nothing to lose.

Evacuate Earth -- Could we do it

You could probably evacuated some people, but to where? The closest star is 4 light years away. None of our probes have even made it past a light day nevermind several light years. And we don't even have a good idea of what sort of conditions are over there. Besides, we're located in a pretty...

    Reflections on the Iraq War

I thought that it was a mistake then and still feel the same way now. I never believed that their evidence was anything but flimsy. I felt that the run-up to the war highlighted the deplorable state of the US journalism which failed to pursue, analyze, or synthesize information relevant to the...

    Talking about the Universe

I'm a little awestruck by how much is happening on the largest and smallest of scales.

    Immortality: Is it ethical?

The universe is pretty big. Human immortality shouldn't be a problem if we can also do things like fuse hydrogen for energy.

    Don't disarm the mentally ill

Why not just have everyone do an extensive psych test to see who is potentially violent? Clearly, there are plenty of violent people who don't have a mental illness, so why do they get a free pass? I think that society in general thinks that they are far more sane and responsible than they...

So did Manti Teo know his girlfriend was not real?

Of course he knew. Your supposed gf has an almost deadly car accident and then leukemia and you don't bother to visit once in the stretch of half a year. I have a hard time believing that one.

    Fighting back with logic

Unfortunately, this isn't logic. It fails to account for relevant differences.

Life, offensiveness, free rides, and 15 minutes of fame

So VRWC, if instead they had caught the waiter spit in their food, would you still expect them to pay their bill? At what point is it ok to simply walk out?

Which movies have you seen lately? Kinetic Icon VII

I preface this by saying that I watched this movie a long time ago (so my memory is a little hazy), but the one thing that really stuck out to me was how overrated this movie was. The plot was boring and silly. The acting wasn't that great either. Personally, I think that if you swap out the...

Which movies have you seen lately? Kinetic Icon VII

I don't see why that movie was any good (other than it having famous actors in it).

    Do you believe in ...

The only one I was conflicted about were the alien lifeforms. I left it out because it's one of those things that I want at least some evidence for instead of just relying on the "universe is so big that there must be some" argument. And that being said, I'm skeptical that life is necessarily...
