Return to Civ3: Advice on game

I've looked at your file. Are you seriously serious? He is asking for help, not ridicule. If you do not know how to help or cannot help, then please move on. Posting like this is trolling.

    Hotkeys wanted

Why, when the whole point of the game is winning against the AI, would you ever allow the AI to make a decision for you.

    Hotkeys wanted

Like CommandoBob says, "once it is set it is easy to forget". I strongly urge any player from using any "automate" feature of this game. You're simply allowing the AI to make bad decisions for you, and ultimately your opponents to catch up with you. Civilization has been designed all along to...

    Nuclear Warfare

    Great informative thread.

    Hotkeys wanted

The first part of your questions, can only, and should only, be decided turn-by-turn as the the game progresses. The only slight exception here is to "Mobilize" during times of war (which I never do). I much prefer to milk my various cities for all they're worth, turn-by-turn. Seriously, the AI...

    ...naval strategies..

I always end up with 6 Carriers, with 21 Bombers aboard, plus 3 Fighter Jets. By that time I have at least 18 Destroyers. At that point, I rule the seas. I don't have to lift a finger, but can pull the trigger at will. I make sure I have plenty of Jets/Bombers to rebase.

    Fortress/barricade

I've used them, but only along specific tiles that make sense, and against a neighbor that continuously remains as "annoyed" no matter how you treat them diplomatically. You really have a lot of factors to weigh before you waste your time; Do you plan to attack soon farther from this point, or...

    Error 001bcbf8

I see your edit to remove, but I have a question myself. Was this a Leader you'd just turned into an Army? (as opposed to an empty Army from a Mil. Acad.?

    Submarine/Invisibility Question

Haha Theov. As for a true "Boomer" Sub in Civ3, it would have to occur in the 2nd tier of Modern Times (between Nuclear Power and Stealth), and the Sub would be incredibly more expensive. It would carry 8 Tact Nukes, with a range of 12. That's nasty.

    Submarine/Invisibility Question

Excellent point by wuhjah, I'd never even considered that. I may produce a few Nuke Subs to protect my "kill zone harbors". But other than that, Nuke Subs are still weak, even with Magellan's Voyage, because a Nuke Sub can only "follow" a transport. I still consider them a waste. Thanks...

    Submarine/Invisibility Question

Oh, now that explain your motives, "The Hunt for Red October" (I love that movie too, and read the book once) it makes more sense. But keep in mind, the Russian Captain wasn't a rogue terrorist bent on firing anonymous nuclear weapons; he was simply determined to defect a new technology from a...

    Submarine/Invisibility Question

Did they attack you right after the InterTurn? or during yours... that may give a clue. I'm clueless.

    Submarine/Invisibility Question

Please follow up with what you discover about the various missiles and ships flaggings. I've never played with the Editor like that before. What I do know for fact is 1 thing (in an unedited game): 1) The AI can detect a Privateer anywhere on the map, from anywhere, anytime, and will send...
