Lies, I'm interested, but I've heared nothing of your c++ efforts so far, this is the first time I see/hear of your efforts but still I like 'em. That video is awesome!
There are plenty of tutorials out there, again, google is your friend. Or you can simply fiddle around and invent your own style. That's what I did, after reading few tutorials. My maps are mostly randomly generated static and then tons of layers on top of it.
