Is there a thread that explains exactly how a Mafia game works? This is my first one, and I kinda get the idea, but I don't want to make too many mistakes.
Yes but Skåne was 'Danish' before Jutland was, because the Danes most likely migrated from the east. Jutland was inhabited by the Jutes and Kimbrers before becoming more closely tied to the rest of the area.
Get that?
To all: I have added a disclaimer to and amended my original post to reflect what I have come to realise during our excellent discussion.
What historians? What general opinion? I don't believe that there is a general opinion stating that Skåne was ever invaded/conquered/annexed by Denmark...
Happy New Year to you too!
Glad to see you back in the discussion. I haven't enjoyed a history debate so much in years. It is a shame we can't all meet face to face, as much gets misunderstood in writing. :)
As I stated in my last post, you may all have misunderstood me slighty. I am claiming...
Yes I believe this to be true. The Dani who drove out the Herules were almost certainly related to the Suiones. I am not saying that Danes and Swedes are different races or anything. Of course the two are completely related.
I agree that the Danes existed before the kingdom of Denmark, but...
I was more asking the two other guys who have spoken about this 'invasion' several times. There must be some historical evidence of this, since they keep talking about it.
But who were the 'Danes'? I am arguing that the Danes may just as well have decended from Skåne as from other places in...
What is your historical reference for this claim? If you look at a few of my most recent posts I am asking many questions about this 'incorporation' of Skåne into 'Denmark'. It is a very bold claim that I still contest. Until I get some solid evidence to back up this claim I will continue to say...
My point exactly. And since Skåne was a part of Denmark as far back as the word 'Denmark' has been used, it is not wrong to say that Skåne always has been a part of Denmark.
It was indeed an independent chiefdom in the Iron Age but so was Sjælland. Was that also 'forcibly annexed' into Denmark...
Yes I deny that Skåne was forcibly annexed to Denmark because there is no historical record of this. You still have not answered my questions:
1. What Danish conquest?
2. When did this conquest take place?
3. Who was the 'Danish' king/chief who 'conquered' Skåne?
4. Who was leader of...
Fair enough. I don't see that the two claims contradict each other. It is historical fact that Canute called Lund 'Lvnd Denemac' and London 'Lvnd', but that could simply coincide with Lund already having the name to begin with.
What Danish conquest? When did this conquest take place? Who was...
