I believe any PC less than, say, 10 years old will have no problem running this game on max. Increasing map/civ/unit sizes or amounts depends more on the modders optimizing the game than actual PC power.
Seems like something is broken. Started with fresh SVN install, game boots up fine. Using any of the SVN versions or the v43 causes a crash on startup. Deleting the modmod files and restoring to SVN works again.
Definitely check it out. I first played C2C maybe 3-4 years ago and it's improved a lot since then. I agree that the earlier game is better, probably up to classical or maybe medieval eras. But there's still a lot of fun to be had even if the end result is a foregone conclusion. I'm really...
It's definitely easier to stop criminals before they get into your cities. If you know or suspect an adjacent civ is sending criminals at you, post some LE units/dogs near your borders as Tbird said. Balance increased vision and pursuit upgrades since they're pretty slippery. An ounce of...
Ok found the issue. There was a forest on the plot and there were two remove vegetation options. One provided by slash and burn which does not give a production bonus and one provided by bronze working which does. The construct a pasture improvement appeared to be tied to the bronze working...
Not sure if this is how it was in previous versions, but I noticed an oddity in my current v43.1 game. I just got into ancient age so gatherers became obsolete replaced by workers. However an enemy rogue destroyed a scavenging camp on a cow resource. The worker cannot build either a...
I feel like equilibrium culture is more realistic for a modern era and infinite culture is more realistic for premodern eras. However, modern culture is less geographic in nature. Look at the international explosion of Korean culture in the last 5-10 years driven by Kpop, Korean tv, and food...
Survival is not a problem. I'm not spamming units, I generally only fight the AI if they declare war first. I micromanage the hunter units to start with, but eventually I turn them loose with auto hunt. And I'll usually queue up 3-4 buildings at a time. Depending on my research path, I may...
Any documentation about what the different difficulties do? Playing on nightmare and currently at 3 cities in prehistoric with 27 gold income. Iroquois AI has been spamming cities like crazy (I think 8+). I checked world builder just to see and it is barely into ancient with 228 gold income...
Aren't battlefield promotions turned off by default? Never seen them in prior versions, and my v43 game of UEM has them turned off the options without my choosing anything.
After seeing this suggestion elsewhere, I always have the minimum city distance set to 3 instead of 2. Makes cities a little less spammy and crowded. Would definitely help with stability in this scenario as well.
I really like the map, so my dream is to be able play it to completion, but I'm not sure the engine can handle it. Even conquering all of North America seems like a stretch both from a game stability standpoint and a city maintenance standpoint.
I haven't really perused the late civics, but...
That's very weird. I could see possibly capturing one, maybe two cities if you spam mass units and rush the AI early by totally neglecting everything else. You'd be left way behind in development though and super vulnerable. The AI tends to be very passive even on high difficulties, so I try...
Eh that's not so bad. Realistically, by the time you're actually able to conquer civs there shouldn't be much unclaimed wilderness left to hide in.
I agree events are silly in C2C, especially after prehistoric. The proportions are way off. "Oh no, something bad happened. Spend 50 gold to...
