Hmmm… a small population subsisted in Greenland until the XV century, which makes me wonder… what if the Danes or Norwegians had actually retained a substantial colonial presence up there in the north? Would Canada and the US have formed as they have?

Sad events is England winning the Six Nations tournament. The area of inferiority is the European Nations Cup, where Norway and Finland are both far, far behind Sweden (four divisions lower as of this week).

Hmmmm, given that right now it's raining and the humidity's overpowering I'd say I'm edging closer to a full-house sauna. But there's not a birch tree in sight and no ice or snow to roll in either. Maybe I should just visit Finland's beaches, as they say in SatW, and bring back some good sauna-stones.

I am getting used to what is a virtual sauna, otherwise known as summer in Buenos Aires (>30º at 3 a.m.). Only put on clothes to go outside and all that. It's very manly.

Sorry, but if Finland preferred it it was for a good reason. Also, the Swedes have kept å, naturally.

The Finnish throne has been vacant for 98 years. The Finns on this forum have found no coherent reason for me to be a moderately coherent speaker of their language other than my being their future King in hiding.
