Well, Martinus has a point. The chateau may not be a unique improvement. After all, just because the name is French doesn't mean it will be unique to France.
For example, Oxford, Circus Maximus, and Hermitage can be built by anyone and everyone on a map. They're national wonders. Landships were...
Aztecs, India, Japan, China, England, and America are always in the bottom of my games. Mongolia, Iroquois, Inca, Ethiopia, Siam, Germany, France, Spain, and the Maya are always on the top of my games.
This is generally the tactic in a real war situation. Tanks only stand a chance on open terrain, otherwise they get blasted by rambo bazookateers (infantry in game) in the jungles. I have not gotten tanks in G&K, but I have only used tanks in the core game. Tanks are OK, but modern armour is the...
You realize mines are against the Geneva conventions? You would also have to suffer for having mines present during a time of peace, which would mean if you set up mines for war, they better all go off during that war, or else your workers are in trouble. Many farmers are killed because of mines...
I would like unhappiness to be a little more important in game. I always find that I am unhappy in the late game, but I always have money to spam units and buildings to compensate for the unhappiness penalties. But I think that if your nation is below -10 unhappiness, then there should be a...
This nuclear war thing gives me an idea to improve civ v espionage: the ability to send your spies to disarm nukes. It destroys the missile or bomb unit, but the civ gets the resources back. There should also be laser defence units (late Atomic era/Modern era unit) which is basically an AA or...

But keep in mind the Zulu were as much of a civ as the Iroquois were (and the were). They would make a legitimate civ. But if they add the Zulu, they should have a Scramble for Africa scenario.
I find the early eras longer than usual, but I agree that a long late game is terrible. Though, why not make the late game exciting? Puppet states should be able to seek independece via unhappiness, spy warfare (terrorism), more complex future era, etc.
Maybe disease should also be addeed...
