Started playing again recently after a while away. I've never liked civ6's look, it just feels too cartoony and childish. It's the cities, districts, and units in particular. I prefer a more realistic design and scale to things. I really loved civ5's design of the map. Same with the leaders. The...
I think it could be very useful. If you get declared on you can rush or buy, or use existing workers if you have them, to quickly build segments where you know the enemy will have to come by. Which essentially increases your army strength. That allows you to keep a much smaller army and you can...
So historical accuracy and a fun or interesting mechanic aren't good enough reasons? It's not even "controversial". It'd be interesting to see what percentage of the target audience, and what percentage of the overall population in given countries, think it is wrong to have a wide and long...
I'll Probably go for the earliest historical civ in the game. Hopefully Sumer. I just really like that feeling of really starting out as a cradle of civilisation and a civ which really reflects that makes it even better. I'm hoping the early game gives that feeling. I felt it a lot more in IV...
It should be in. Civ V didn't have a government system so it's omission wasn't a huge deal. If they're returning to such a system though, where we can choose specific ways of organising and running our civilisation, slavery has to be in. It was a historically important and significant practice...
Mexico hasn't really done a whole lot, and it isn't particularly unique in any way. It also isn't unique geographically like Brazil is for example. The Aztecs I think are far more notable and unique as a civilisation than a modern Mexico.
Too early to talk detailed build orders because we don't know enough, but maybe it'd be something where you do a 1:1 or 1:2 of defence things v non defence things. e.g.
Scout
Warrior
Builder
Warrior
Monument
Walls
Shrine
Archer
Settler
...
Yeah plus early game diplomacy is more geared towards war. I think they've made a conscious effort to make the early game more dangerous and defence oriented. A scout will still probably be everyone's first thing they build, but I think things like more army units, walls, the encampment...
I think that's too nerfed. More realistic would be that as soon as Iceland goes to war with England, England capitulates and gives all gold, resources and cities.
I feel a lot better about the graphics now. The trees in forests and jungles seem smaller and more dense. At 1:12, that jungle surrounding the city looks really good. The units seem slightly smaller too, but I'm not sure.
