The flavor of your great person is just multiplied with the flavor of each tech. It chooses the tech with the highest score.
I am working on my own mod but I can't figure this one out. In Civ4 BTS whenever you enter the city screen the music stops and you hear the city ambient sounds. As soon as you leave the screen the music resumes.

Well, it weakens China because half its army (mostly catapults) is on the way to India and not at home to defend against barbarians.
But you are right. It does not effect gameplay that much. It just looks silly.
I'm just afraid that it will mess up gameplay if Free Religion is available with Philosophy.
Of course the current civic system is not realistic but at least the results are kinda realistic (after Middle Ages most civs change to Free Religion).
I'm also against the idea of Unique wonders. It would be nice though if most of the time Pyramides are built by Egypt (which already happens in most games and it would happen even more often if we would remove Stonehenge), Parthenon by Greece, etc. This can be done by changing AI flavors:

But do we really want a UP that is nearly the same as the UP of Egypt?
