CIV4 MODs in Steam
Steam offers (very) cheap CIV-editions.
CIV4 BtS is especially interesting for playing some of the many great MODs that have been created for CIV4 BtS.
I noticed that some users are having trouble to find their way in Steam.
I just posted this as an answer and realised...
CIV mods can work fine in Steam, but you have to find the special place for the MODs for your version of CIV and depending on the (32 or 64-bit) system you use.
Keep in mind that Steam works in 32-bit environment.
There are many folders called "Mods" all over the place. Mostly they are empty...
Another part of the solution may be the way you have to install Civ4 BtS in a 64 bit system. See Civilization Fanatics' Forums > CIVILIZATION IV > Civ4 - Technical Support "Installing Civ 4 on Windows 7/Vista (32-/64-bit)" which inmho also goes for Windows 8. (I use ROM-AND 1.74D and no CtD...
You might take a look at "Installing Civ 4 on Windows 7/Vista (32-/64-bit)"

Also works for Windows 8 :)

Kiwitt's trick works fine for WINDOWS 8 64bits too.
Including Mods like the famous Rise of Mankind-A New Dawn (ROM-AND 1.74D) whose infamous 32bit memory limit has (not yet) bothered me anymore to play on and on and ......
Do mind to do exactly what is in the OP recipe!
Thankyouverymuch!
It works exactly as described in the first post (above).
BUT do mind that some units need resources (like iron for a longswordman), so you must first use "Select Resource" to get the proper resource.
Your unit will appear in and near your first city.
Cool Mod !
Great way to make a quick assessment of new upgrades and MODs.
Even works in the latest upgrade(1.0.1.221).
imho it should be part of the standard game instead of being just a mod, like we had standard cheat possibilities in older CIV-versions (blocking the HOF of course)...
RoM (AND) made Civ4 realisic for anybody with historical sense. It was great!
Now you (all) want RoM for CiV5 to make THE change for the good. Bravo
So I tried helping to look for a break by looking at it from a different perspective.
Just give me an answer please: is my idea impossible (wait...
Most routers have a default password.
At your own risk you may use the cold reset: unplug the router and make it lose all stored information.
A cold reset is NOT done by pushing a reset button :nono: , it is done by unplugging.
Take off the electricity for a while. For a while is...
I see it in the MOD-Browser under the TAB Installed.
When I went from 6 to 7, it kept saying "nr.6-".
Then I promoted ;) to 8 and it still says "nr.6-".
Can be something wrong in my browser or ....

That is why I mentioned the possibility to see in-game which...
We had a discussion about the amount of memory and the largitude of the saves in the thread of the enormous Civ4 ROM-AND MOD (Rise of Mankind 2 plus ModMOD A new Dawn).
Hope to save you a lot of research by pointing the direction to it :
See the thread for the total discussion.

Minor point of attention:
You forgot to update the description of the MOD. :p
If you click on the MOD it says Version: 6 -
Something to keep in mind for the next version.
By the way, I really miss the possibility to actually see in the game playing which mods, versions etc you use in that...
